| Description | Students at the College regularly practiced the performing arts and often invited local people such as Muriel Read and her family to attend the performances. This bundle of programmes represents some of the activities of the College Societies that arranged the performances, including: 1. 'Words and Music', presented by the Malayan Teachers' Training College Students' Union, 2 December 1952; 2. ' A Murder has been Arranged' presented by the Malayan Teachers' Training College Dramatic Society, 1 March 1953; 3. Performance by the Choral Society Orchestra, 23 July 1953; 4. 'Hang Tuah' presented by the Malay Literary Society and written as a play by A.I. Izhab and Ahmad Salleh, 22-23 July 1954; 5. 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' by William Shakespeare, presented by the College and directed by Geoffrey Broughton, 12-14 December, 1955; 6. 'Deepavali Greetings', a dinner dance and floor show in celebration of Deepavali, 3 November 1956; 7. 'Noah' by Andre Obey and presented by The Malayan College, Kirkby, 5-8 December 1956; 8. 'The Golden Tail: an Eastern fantasy' by Geoffrey Broughton, March 1959. |
