| Description | This document details 2 of the papers presented to a conference held at the Malayan Teachers' Training College, Kirkby to mark the first anniversary of Merdeka, or independence, organised by the Malayan Teachers' Training College Historical Society. Paper I is entitled 'The teaching of history in Malaya as a potential means of helping to foster the spirit of a new nation', prepared by Mr. J. Kennedy, Senior Lecturer of History, Malayan College, Kirkby and Paper III considers 'Trade Unionism in Malaya', prepared by the Political Conference Group, which comprised of Sulaiman Alias, S. C. Chua, T. G. Sim and Anuar bin Zainal Abidin. A full transcript of each presentation is given and the front sheet has been inscribed 'In memory of a very pleasant Merdeka anniversary' by History lecturer F. J. Moorhead. |
