| Description | This sketch book documents Margaret Hodge's (Hilda Margaret Whitaker née Hodge) study trip to Stockholm, Sweden in around 1954. Margaret made many sketches of South East Asian Museum exhibits in the Stockholm Ethnographic Collection and figurative studies of Stockholm street life, all of which are accompanied by studious notes on colour and composition. The sketch book gives a wonderful insight into Margaret Hodge's teaching at the Malayan Teachers' Training College, as the book includes ideas for art projects and notes on art theory and ideology. Margaret has also used the book to record her notes for Tutorial Group session work; she had pastoral care responsibilities for female students and her notes reflect the boundaries, issues and relevant information that she needed to discuss with them. |
