| Description | These collected works of Hilda Margaret Whitaker née Hodge date from the post-Malayan Teachers' Training College period and reflect her travels in South East Asia during the late 1980s. Giving expression to her interest in the people and places of the area which stemmed from her time at Kirkby, the pieces represent her observations of life, industry, flora and fauna in the region. The majority of the pieces (1-11) are presented in an artist's portfolio and all should be viewed in conjunction with the photograph albums and sketch books containing working sketches and source materials in the form of photographs, journal articles and published items which document her travels in Malaysia [1987], tour of Thailand (Malaysia, Borneo, Indonesia and Thailand) [1989] and Field Study trip to Malaysia and Indonesia [1989], all listed at GB1076.MTTC/2/7. |
