DescriptionMembers of the West German International Football Team, playing football in the car park of the Golden Eagle Hotel, Cherryfield Drive, Kirkby, prior to beating USSR 2-1 in the 1966 World Cup semi-final, played at Goodison Park. The players, on a rest break, were watched by a group of local young people, including Seamus Brady: 'A few of us from Cherryfield Crescent joined them not realising that it was a unique occasion, given that these players would go down in history and play England a few days later in a history making World Cup Final.'
