Knowsley Archives are home to an extensive and diverse range of records of local, national and international significance. Our collections relate to the modern borough of Knowsley and the historic townships that were brought together to constitute it: Cronton, Halewood, Huyton, Kirkby, Knowsley Village, Prescot, Roby, Stockbridge Village, Tarbock, and Whiston. There are also records that are relevant to the surrounding area.
The collections include records of local government with Knowsley Borough Council from 1974 and the predecessor district and parish councils, photographs, maps and plans, oral history recordings, and the archives of local businesses, schools, colleges, hospitals, societies, charities, and churches. We also hold a large number of personal archives, family and estate papers.
Knowsley Archives is an approved Place of Deposit for certain records and continues to collect records of organisations and individuals relating to Knowsley.
