In this programme old countrymen from East Anglia, farm workers and their wives, farmers, tradesmen and others recall a way of living and working in an attitude to life which disappeared with the coming of the internal combustion engine (Original broadcast date Feb 1965). Also included on this recording is a historical agriculture time-line starting from the Black Plague up until after WWII and is read out by a group of school girls.
