Description | This black and white photograph shows Gardner's wallpaper and paints shop, which occupied number 4 Market Place, Prescot. The shop front has been elaborately decorated to mark the coronation of George VI [12 May 1937] with a banner reading 'Long Live the King' hanging from the eaves. Although very similar to GB1076.PTHC/3/4/24, this photograph has been used to plan out decorations to celebrate either the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953 or a later visit to Prescot by the Queen - on the reverse, there are detailed sketches of an updated design. |
