Includes: draft copy of the contract, with handwritten amendments and corrections, containing full summary of costs for all sites, details of works, details of sub-contractors (September 1939); summary of J.L. Rawsthorne & Co.'s costs with original claim and revised figures (September 1939); handwritten figures and calculations; accepted estimates from contractors and utility services as part of the housing development, with attached correspondence between Whiston R.D.C. and some of the contractors and services (1938); correspondence with the District Auditor, Lancashire County Council, regarding arranging a meeting with Colonel Gornall of Gornall & Wainwright (September 1943); Articles of Agreement between Whiston R.D.C. and J.L. Rawsthorne & Co. for the construction of 138 houses (March 1938).
The housing sites referred to are in Whiston, Bold, Eccleston, Kirkby, Tarbock, Hale and Cronton. Although the documents do not include a full list of the new housing locations, they include: Pepper Street, Hale; The Avenue, Eccleston; Chapel Lane, Cronton; Greensbridge Lane, Tarbock; School Lane, Kirkby; Dragon Lane and 'Dragon Lane Estate', Whiston.
