The folder contains correspondence between Mr. Mann, Clerk, Whiston Rural District Council, and Alfred Grounds & Co., auctioneers and appraisers, Runcorn, concerning the sale, and attachments to the letters include: estimate of costs by Mr. Mann of the management of 'Bradleys - Old Colliery Offices'; Mr. Grounds' list of unsold lots in the estate sale, with names of tenants; hand-drawn plan by Alfred Grounds & Co. for 'Land Lot 17,' off Cumber Lane and behind the Iron Foundry, with the Poor Law Institution also included on the plan.
The folder also includes a letter from S. France, archivist, Lancashire County Council, with details of the history of Halsnead Hall and the estate sales of 1929 and 1930 (February 1969).
